Here you will find information on Scenic Rim Wine Trail events. Enjoy:
Self-Guided Tour of the Five Scenic Rim Cellars Doors
Cork' n Fork provides bus tours of the cellar doors in either a small or a large bus. See the Tours page for more information.
Pterodactyl can fly you to the cellar doors in a helicopter. See the Tours page for more information.
However if you wish to conduct your own guided tour, here are some issues for you to consider when planning your trip.
The five wineries in the Scenic Rim with a cellar door are Ironbark Ridge Vineyard at Purga outside Ipswich, Normanby Wines and Paradine Estate Wines at Harrisville and Bunjurgen Estate and Kooroomba Vineyard at Mt. Alford outside Boonah.
It is possible to visit all five cellar doors in one day.
Larger groups require more time to use facilities and to get on and off the bus. With lunch and maybe a tea break, time may restrict you to only three cellar doors in a day. You may need to come back for a second visit.
Some of the options for lunch are the hotels at Harrisville, a do it yourself BBQ at Normanby Wines, a booking for a catered lunch at Ironbark Ridge Vineyard, several restaurants in Boonah and of course a very good lunch at Kooroomba Vineyard at Mount Alford outside Boonah. There is also a restaurant at Woodlands of Marburg with local wines available with the meal.
Here is a possible itinerary if you do wish to visit the five cellar doors in a day.
- Arrive at Ironbark Ridge at 10am.
- Leave at 10.50am and drive to Paradine.
- Leave Paradine at 11.50 and drive to Normanby.
- Now you could have your own BBQ lunch or picnic at Normanby with someone cooking while Jenny does a tasting - so eat and taste.
- Leave Normanby by 1.30pm and drive to Bunjurgen.
- Leave Bunjurgen at 3.10pm and drive to Kooroomba.
- Leave Kooroomba at 4.20pm for home.
You may want to take and modify this tour for your purposes.
If any of the group is looking for overnight accommodation with dinner and local wines, Barney Creek Vineyard at Barney View would be ideal.
Also you may like to see the Scenic Rim from up high through a balloon ride with Floating Images. See the Tours page for more information.
